Ann Street Bailey
Painter
Artist Biography:
Vermont painter Ann Street Bailey meshes her two lifelong loves: nature and art with each new painting she creates. After a career in business and education, Ann began devoting her time to painting and the study of various media, especially oil.

Ann is a former interior designer who studied art but describes herself as primarily a self-taught artist. She has studied at the Irish School of Landscape Painting and continues her studies in workshops with notable artists. Primarily a plein air painter, Ann’s artistic objective is to convey the mood and essence of a moment. From impressionist landscapes to abstract, Ann uses the study of color and composition to achieve her objective. Ann returns annually to Ireland to paint. She also paints in Arizona, and the mountains of North Carolina and Tennessee near where she was raised. Most days, however, she can be found painting near her home in Lamoille County, Vermont, with its incomparable light, color, mood and views.

My favorite quote (and philosophy) from one of my favorite artists, Cezanne:
"Method is clarified through contact with nature. It develops through circumstances. It consists in the search for a way of expressing what one feels, in the organization of these feelings into a personal aesthetic."
