Richard & Vera Long
Long Branch Wooden Bowls
Artist Biography:
Richard & Vera Long
Richard and Vera Long, moved to the Northeast Kingdom, Holland, VT, on October 3, 2003 and were overwhelmed by its beauty and serenity.
We were both born in Cambridge, Maryland, on the Eastern Shore of the Chesapeake Bay, but always shared a love for the mountains, colder weather and snow.
After graduation, Richard joined the Navy and we were married one year later. He became a brick mason, a Chesapeake Bay Waterman and farmed raising hay for mushroom plants in Pennsylvania. We also raised broilers for the poultry industry on the Eastern Shore for 25 years.
Since our passion is working in our woods and creating “Reflections from the Woods” as heirloom pieces to be handed down for generations, we have created bowls made from our own Black Cherry, Yellow Birch, Ash and Maple trees. They are finished with food grade, all natural oils and beeswax, then hand signed by Vera with the type of wood, year and “Long Branch Wooden Bowls, Holland, VT”.
We welcome visitors to our gallery of “Long Branch Wooden Bowls”, at our home, and also to see firsthand how a log is transformed into an heirloom.
