Wooden Horse Arts Guild, Inc.
Education Scholarship/Grants Fund
The Wooden Horse Arts Guild, Inc., known as WHAG, is a nonprofit charitable organization under the provisions of Section 501(c)(3)
of the Internal Revenue Code. Our mission is to:
- Build community through the arts.
- Promote artists, craftsmen, musicians and writers.
- Provide opportunities for youth and adults.
- Undertake charitable and educational activities.
- Preserve the arts and crafts.
- Provide an organization and physical space where artists and patrons of the arts may come together for mutual support, education
and commerce.
One of the ways WHAG fulfills its mission is through our Arts Education Scholarship/Grants Fund. The fund is supported by
donations from members and the general public and fund raising events conducted by WHAG.
Who and What the Fund Supports
The fund provides matching scholarships and grants to enable Vermont residents, age 14 and over, to enhance their growth and
education in the arts, crafts, music and writing. Preference is given to residents of Orleans County and first-time applicants. We
accept applications from individuals not groups. Activities supported by the fund include, but are not limited to, workshops, private or
group lessons, performances, instrument rental or purchase and acquisition of art supplies.
Deadlines, Applications and Reports
The committee reviews applications and makes award decisions up to three times per year. Deadlines for applications are:
- March 15 (for 2010 this deadline is extended to April 15)
- September 15
Award decisions will be made within 1 week of the application deadlines. The number of and amount of awards will be determined
annually by the Committee. Awards will be paid directly to the activity or provider or to the awardee upon presentation of appropriate
documentation or receipt. If you receive an award you will be required to provide a written report to WHAG within 30 days of using
the award. You will receive an Awardee Report form for this purpose.
