NEWS:

  • The Wooden Horse Arts Guild and the Rand Memorial Library in North Troy promoted the PHOTO FUN CONTEST for young photographers in three categories: People, Animals and Nature. Twenty children from ages 3 to 12 entered the contest in October, 2008. Judging was done by seven impartial persons who volunteered their time and expertise to choose the 20 winning photos.
All 41 photographs were displayed on Sunday, November 23 at the HOLIDAY GIFT SHOW presented by the Wooden Horse Arts Guild. Visitors were given the opportunity to vote for "People's Favorite" and, at the close of the event, the winners were presented with cash awards and ribbons. Each participant also received a special certificate. The Wooden Horse Arts Guild and the Rand Memorial Library are proud of the talents of our young friends. We congratulate them!

Our member meetings occur quarterly with the public encouraged to attend. Click the links to the left to learn more - and don't forget to visit our artists' galleries!

During 2008 we showcased the best of the Wooden Horse Arts Guild artists and craftsmen at Open Studio Weekend, "10 Days of Arts and Fine Crafts", and the "Holiday Gift Show" . Invitations to new artists are given for each event. Let's not forget the fun of the Irasburg Church Fair in July when the artists from everywhere can enter their works for fun, prizes and sales.

Our "Gallery Wall" is now at the Inglenook Lodge on the Jay Peak Road in Jay, Vt. This very popular lodge is a wonderful venue for the artists of the Guild. This wall changes monthly with new works of the artists and special showings of individual artists.

On Jan. 25, 2008, the Wooden Horse Arts Guild received the long-awaited word from the Internal Revenue Service that the Guild was granted the 501(c)(3) status of the Internal Revenue Code. This was very good news for those who wish to donate to this fast-growing and hard-working art guild. All donations are now tax-deductible under the Internal Revenue Code.
