Welcome to WHAG!

Welcome to the homepage of the Wooden Horse Arts Guild, an organization for artists and patrons of the arts in northern Vermont and beyond. Here you can learn more about our group, read about our events, obtain membership information and view online galleries of our members' artwork and fine crafts.

Our member meetings occur quarterly with the public encouraged to attend. Click the links to the left to learn more - and don't forget to visit our artists' galleries!

Our membership is made up of artists and fine craftsmen, plus those interested in promoting the arts and bringing activity to our communities. Our current membership is 80+ and growing. This is an exciting time for the artists of Northern Vermont and especially for the Wooden Horse Arts Guild. 2006 saw a successful Open Studio Weekend, this very successful Website, a visit from our Vermont State Governor Jim Douglas (during our "10 Days of Arts and Fine Crafts"), the Village Art Show and the First Annual December "Holiday Show". Our Palettes of Vermont were shown throughout 2006 to several hundred visitors.

2007 followed with a change of show venue at the American Legion Hall in North Troy. Our "Gallery Wall" at the Buon Amici Restaurant in North Troy has become popular with the enjoyment of "Dinner and Art". This wall changes monthly with new works of the artists and special showings of individual artists. Another wonderful addition for the showing of the Arts and Crafts of the Wooden Horse Arts Guild is the "Window on Main Street" at the Emory Hebard State Office Building in Newport. The window display changes monthly and becomes a wonderful attraction on Main Street.

We enjoyed framing clinics, oil painting classes, watercolor workshops and "Painting the Buckets" to raise money for the local Fire Department Auxiliary. We introduced 3 new young women artists who continue to make us proud to have them as members of the Wooden Horse Arts Guild. We are excited to offer in 2008, our Open Studio Weekend, "10 Days of Arts and Fine Crafts", the Village Art Show and our "Holiday Gift Show" . Each of these events showcase the very best of the Wooden Horse Arts Guild artists and craftsmen with invitations to new artists given for each event. Let's not forget the fun of the Irasburg Church Fair in July when the artists from everywhere can enter their works for fun, prizes and sales.

On Jan. 25, 2008, the Wooden Horse Arts Guild received the long-awaited word from the Internal Revenue Service that the Guild was granted the 501(c)(3) status of the Internal Revenue Code. This was very good news for those who wish to donate to this fast-growing and hard-working art guild. All donations are now tax-deductible under the Internal Revenue Code.
